Portland, Oregon | Crossover Thrash / Progressive Metal

Portland-based Thrash Course combines the immediacy of punk and crossover thrash with elements of progressive, hardcore, groove, and alternative metal. Complex rhythms, atypical song structures, progressive guitar riffs, and aggressive vocals converge into a sound that is far from expected, but still accessible to the newly initiated.

Drawing inspiration from classical composition, folk lyricism, and the unrelenting grooves of action RPG soundtracks, the band delivers an eclectic blend of aggression, experimentation, and insubordinate but moshable rhythms.

Rooted in Portland's DIY heavy music scene, Thrash Course has become a familiar presence on local stages, including Star Theater and Dante's, sharing bills with acts such as Amerikan Overdose, VINTERSEA, and Hard Pill. The band earned Best Soundtrack at Portland's independent horror film festival, Guignolfest, in 2024 and performed at Twilight Cafe's Femme Fatale Fest in 2025.

In October 2026, Thrash Course independently released their debut full-length album, From Wreckage, showcasing the band's unconventional approach to heavy music. The album features the work of late bassist Daryn Olson, whose musical contributions remain an integral part of the band's sound and identity.
